Abandoned by her people, Queen Talyien’s quest takes a turn for the worse as she stumbles upon a plot deeper and more sinister than she could have ever imagined, one that will displace her king and see her son dead. The road home beckons, strewn with a tangled web of deceit and unimaginable horrors – creatures from the dark, mad dragons, and men with hearts hungry for power.
To save her land, Talyien must confront the myth others have built around her: Warlord Yeshin’s daughter, a symbol of peace, warrior and queen, and everything she could never be.
The price for failure is steep. Her friends are few. And a nation carved by a murderer can only be destined for war.
This review is somehow a combination of my insights of the first book of this series, as The Ikessar Falcon is just a continuation of it. Thus, I have no plan to write a detailed review of The Wolf Oren-yaro because I am still quite stunned. However, what I experienced with the second book was slightly different from the first. I anticipated it to be the same but it was tedious at some parts. I expected Talyien to have learned at least because of all the things she's been telling us but nada. However, that didn't stop me from loving Villoso's work.
It was action-packed than The Wolf Oren-yaro. Yes, there were astonishing events on TWO because we're still introduced to the characters but The Ikessar Falcon IS RESTLESS. After reading, I have to question myself "How did I survive all of that?". Every plot is interrelated with grace in which it has the same quality of your favorite action movie while revealing relevant facts on the situation of Queen Talyien's nation with its royal politics and commoner involvements, her marriage to Lord Rayyel, and friendship to the people around her. Also, the characters' complexity was handed with intricate and refined delicacy. Each represents a different portrayal that one would be able to relate to. The names were also well thought that you would never forget it. Moreover, I noticed that most of the characters were headstrong. Despite this certain characteristic they depict, it was not the kind that is annoying, they have their good reasons (or as I just imagined?). Another thing worth mentioning is that the pervading tone and world-building of this work of art are impressively splendid, the main reason as to why I drove my self to finish it, while the minor reasons are Khine and the dragons. Is that enough? Oh, yes. Yes. You should know Khine Lamang and his wit.
K.S. Villoso wrote The Ikkesar Falcon with fluidity and finesse that no one can resist from start to finish. This is recommended for readers who have a strong interest in excellent world-building (of the East) and characters that would teach you how to outfox strenuous life.
P.S.
I wasn't able to feel a cliffhanger at the end of The Wolf of Oren-yaro because I was able to read The Ikessar Falcon right away. I recommend that you obtain the three books so you can relish all of it in one sweet read. I am really agitated right now to read the last book!

Khine is legit my favorite character and I just need him to be happy! I definitely agree with your points, I was so scared the entire time reading and had to stop multiple times because I got too overwhelmed 😂

Lucky on my part that I read this during my commutes, so I pause from time to time on my stops. 😅
