Review: Thirst by RP Channing

Publication: November 26th 2015
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Fantasy
Format: Kindle Edition, 243 pages

Rating:

You may have noticed that I did not include the synopsis of this book. Clearly because the synopsis provided on Goodreads is terribly long and apparently spoils most of the characters! However, I take delight in and make the most of Thirst.

I should have DNF this book, aboveboard. I have a feeling of aversion towards how the narrative description of past and present events goes. As Kira and Cory interchangeably give detailed accounts of themselves, the rest just lack distinctness – what’s this? What’s that? How that even happened? Who is this? Situations like those.

Despite anything to the contrary, the idea is impressive – let say, the history of the protagonists and the bordering sorcery. As much as I want to spoil everything that is good on Thirst, unfortunately, I can’t. (Laughs.) You might want to check it out? But, only to those who have much much patience with such reads.

Thirst might be one of the good fantasy read I had in years for it have advantageous qualities buuuut needs great extent of betterment.

Let's leave it up to this quote from Emily Brontë:
“And from the midst of cheerless gloom I passed to bright unclouded day.”

  1. I've not heard of this one before! It's too bad that the synopsis is long - synopses should be like two paragraphs maximum, and brief, at that. o.O Three stars isn't bad but since you were contemplating DNFing... eh. I'm glad you somewhat enjoyed it, Yani. :)

    Great review!

    1. Yeah, and it's really a spoiler. I hope they would think of that. Yep, I wanted to at first but then got interested on the most parts, so yeah, I'm glad I enjoyed it, too. Just some improvements to it. Thank you, Alyssa. :)

  4. I get really bothered when synopsis are too long, and usually I get lazy to read them. I know, that's bad, ahah, but I feel like the synopsis should give you a good glimpse of the story and makes you want to read it, not tell about all the ups and downs of the story.
That being said, haha, I'm glad to hear you liked that book! It's a bit outside of my comfort zone, I think, given that I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I might check it out :)

    1. Same here, Marie. I get lazy that I just let the book tell the rest of the story. And, true that. I like the idea of it but really needs improvement. I don't highly recommend it also.
